SoundCloud & MixCloud Profiles
For those of you who don’t know about SoundCloud and MixCloud they are services where you can share audio with lots of People worldwide. They provide you server space to upload your podcasts, DJ Mixes, Music tracks and any other audio recordings you can think of.
They both have a large following and huge number of users so if like me you want to get your DJ mixes out and about so people can listen to them, then I would suggest you join both services to gain maximum exposure.
Currently mixcloud’s service is free but they have a 100Mb upload limit for each file which is more than enough really. SoundCloud provide you with 2 hours of upload time for free, however if like me you’re uploading hour long DJ mixes then that’s not going to last you very long and you’ll soon need a Solo premium account which will cost you around €79 for the year and gives you around 12 hours of server time which for my master plan of an hour long mix each month works out just fine. You do also get additional benefits though, like a dropbox for people to send you files, private linking to hidden tracks that you do not want to go public yet, unlimited downloads, various player widgets and much more so the money is well spent!
Both services are very good and when I’ve spoken to people behind the brands on twitter and email they have been extremely friendly and helpful!
Each service has a different style so try them both out and see which one works best for you!
