iPhone 4 News
Well for those people who forgot about WWDC 2010 or perhaps didn’t even know it was on (Shame on you!) Apple have today confirmed that their new iPhone 4 will be available to pre-order on the 15th June with the release being just a week later on the 24th June!
The device looks remarkable and although we’ve already seen it a month or so ago when that faithful Apple employee left it in the pub… it’s nice to see Jobs telling us all about it on stage!
Available in black or white and complete with 5MP camera (LED flash, 720p HD video recording). The iPhone 4 also adds 3-axis gyroscope to the motion-sensing mix, tied together with the accelerometer and built-in GPS to provide 6-axis motion sensing gaming. This now enables full 3D motion support which Jobs demonstrated with a Jenga style tower game, rotating the tower and showing it tilt and twist until the blocks fell over.
“We’ve tied the gyro, accelerometer, and GPS for 6-axis motion sensing. It’s perfect for gaming – and one of the reasons it’s perfect is because it’s built into every iPhone 4, so you know it’s there.”
The iPhone 4 will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions costing $199 and $299 respectively. The 3GS 8GB version will now retail for $99.
The device also has front facing camera and supports something Apple call FaceTime (video calling) which requires a WiFi connection at launch until the carriers have upgraded their networks. It is however an extremely smooth and high detailed service judging by reports from todays event.
There is loads more to be excited about and I recommend you head over to Engadget for the full lowdown!
