Numark MIXTRACK DJ Controller
Numark have recently announced their new software midi controller MIXTRACK. The unit is Traktor ready and comes with Native Instruments LE version.
The unit doesn’t look to have a built in soundcard which is a bit disappointing, however you could certainly hook it up to a decent external option like NI Audio 2, however that then makes the £199 device closer to £300. Which for me is their problem, you’re then in Vestax Typhoon territory which does have a built in soundcard and whilst the NI Audio 2 unit is not massive, it just gives the budding party DJ more stuff to carry around and more stuff which could go wrong.

It gives you four optional layouts, including cover art. You will enjoy new Beatgrid Editing and saving with locked sync for precise performance. Also included is manual looping and selectable loop length for flexible loop integration. Additionally, Traktor LE gives you several effects per deck including filter, delay, reverb and flanger. MIXTRACK comes factory mapped for use not only with Traktor LE but also Traktor Pro and Duo, so if you’re already a Traktor power user, you’ll be ready to go right out of the box. Full MIDI compliance means MIXTRACK will also work with virtually any MIDI-mappable music software.
EASY USB CONNECTION
MIXTRACK connects to your Mac or PC as a class-compliant USB device so it requires no software drivers to work, and USB powers it so you won’t need an external supply.

so yeah probably definitely getting this.. how you like it??
I didn’t go for it in the end but I did have a little play with one. It’s a nice little controller to be honest but there is no built-in soundcard so your setup needs to grow a little by adding an external soundcard. There are a couple of new controllers now though which are a better option. Like American Audio VMS4. A little bit more expensive but by the time you buy the controller and external soundcard, you’re almost at the £399 of the VMS4!
