Hi James,

Try the following to fix the error and update your phone by putting it in DFU mode.

1. Connect your iDevice to your PC or Mac via USB cable and launch iTunes.
2. Hold down the Home+Power button for 10 seconds.
3. After 10 seconds, release the Power button but keep holding the Home button until iTunes detect your iPhone in recovery mode.
4. Once your iDevice is in DFU mode, you should see nothing on its screen. It should be completely blank.

Hi, I just got i Iphone 3gs from ebay. I was told the product was new and it looked new when i received the phone, i plugged the phone into itunes and i get an error 21, i have disabled my firewall but still getting error 21 message. can you help ?

Hi, have you never synced up your pictures to your main machine? Usually when your phone is backed up, it will backup all data and ‘should’ restore the images once you restore from the backup. Although I’m positive this is how it works, you might want to double check with Apple to be sure as I can’t be held liable if it doesn’t work this way!

I have Iphone 3GS and its stuck in the recovery loop. I checked the itunes log and it ends with Errpr 14. I have pictures on my Iphone which i never downloaded. I just wanted to know if I follow the steps that you have mentioned will cause to loose all my pictures? It doesnt say anywhere if the restore will erase all of your pictures. I synced the ipod with my PC regualrly. Plz help.

I’ll have a go later, thanks for the video, I just hope this works, as i cant even load it at the moment just get a flashing apple and it takes a little while to get into DFU Mode.
